IOSH Approved DSE Assessor Training Course
Course: DSE Assessor Training Course Via Zoom
Company: TT Electronics Ltd.
Dates: January 2024
Attended by: Health and Safety Coordinator for TT Electronics Ltd
Yuliya, who holds the position of Health and Safety Coordinator for TT Electronics Ltd, asked Fit4Work to provide her with an IOSH Approved DSE Assessor Training Course in person in January 2024. She’d been carrying out workstation risk assessments for the company for a fairly long period of time, but stated when employees complained of lower back pain and her workstation risk assessment didn’t alleviate the persons symptoms, the company called in specialist help, who consequentially recommended a new chair. Around £30,000 worth of new chairs were purchased by the company last year.
Yuliya’s ultimate objective was to improve her assessment skills to boost her confidence and effectiveness in managing individuals with musculoskeletal issues, and ultimately save the company money.
The course covered the following topics:
In addition to the topics mentioned above, a significant amount of time was devoted to preventing and managing lower back pain. For example, angle of the chair’s backrest, depth of the seat pan, how often and for how long micro breaks should be taken, the correct workstation set up, and when should height adjustable desks be used.
An end-of-course assessment process is part of the IOSH Approved DSE Assessor Training Course. This involved completing a theory assessment paper (multi format question paper) and a practical assessment paper, each of which required a 60% pass mark.
“The training was very informative and clear, thank you so much.” – Yuliya Salazar, Health and Safety Coordinator – TT Electronics Ltd
